Elvis Presley’s Missed Opportunity: Why He Turned Down ‘A Star Is Born’ with Barbra Streisand

In 1974, Elvis Presley was approached to star alongside Barbra Streisand in the remake of ‘A Star Is Born.’ However, Elvis’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker, demanded excessive terms, including a $1000 weekly expense account, first position credit, and a $1 million salary for Elvis. Negotiations fell through, and the role went to Kris Kristofferson instead. Despite his initial interest, Elvis never got to star in ‘A Star Is Born’ or make another film, as he passed away in 1977 at the age of 42.
