Former New Jersey state Sen. Edward Durr, known as ‘Ed the Trucker,’ has launched his campaign for governor as a Republican, hoping to ride a wave of grassroots support to victory. Durr, who unseated longtime Senate President Stephen Sweeney in 2021, believes New Jersey is ready for another political shakeup. Durr faces a crowded Republican primary field, including 2021 gubernatorial nominee Jack Ciattarelli and state Sen. Jon Bramnick. He is also a potential rematch with Sweeney, who is running for the Democratic nomination. Durr, a self-described open-minded conservative, says he is the best candidate to represent the working class and give them a voice in Trenton. He supports former President Trump and believes he also has a strong chance of winning New Jersey. Durr’s campaign focuses on cutting government waste, supporting law enforcement, protecting parental rights, and ensuring Second Amendment rights.

In a gymnasium in northern St. Petersburg, dozens of children participated in a hobby horsing competition. Hobby horsing involves riding a stick with a horse’s head attached to it and is said to have originated in Finland. Despite not being a professional sport, hobby horsing competitions have tournaments, coaches, and judges, and participants follow the rules of horse-riding competitions.
