The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Europe (France) Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference was held in Paris on May 24th, 2024. Over 400 delegates from various sectors of the French business community participated in the event. The conference focused on strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the Greater Bay Area and France, and resulted in the signing of 36 bilateral investment and trade projects valued at $3.22 billion USD.
Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary, Paul Chan Mo-po, has highlighted the need for investment in green development and the digital economy to drive economic growth amid geopolitical tensions and market pressures. Despite positive economic growth in the first quarter, the local property and stock markets have faced declines. Chan emphasized the importance of embracing green development and digitalization as key areas for future growth, in line with Beijing’s ambitions for Hong Kong’s development.
Young professionals are increasingly tertarik towards Hong Kong’s accountancy industry due to opportunities in ESG reporting, corporate governance consulting, and the Greater Bay Area, despite a recent decline in new share listings.
