Michael Anthony Joins Green Day’s The Coverups On Stage

Former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony took to the stage with Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt as part of their side project, The Coverups, at Costa Mesa’s Tiki Bar on April 20. The trio performed Kiss’s ‘Rock and Roll All Nite’ with Green Day’s Tré Cool on drums, along with a selection of Van Halen hits. The 28-track setlist also featured songs from The Buzzcocks, The Ramones, David Bowie, The Pretenders, and Nirvana, among others. Armstrong has previously expressed his admiration for Eddie Van Halen’s guitar work, stating that it was a major influence on his own playing style.

Green Day Treat Fans to Intimate Club Show Featuring ‘Dookie’ and ‘American Idiot’

Green Day performed a marathon 35-song set at The Echoplex in Los Angeles, giving fans a taste of their upcoming ‘Saviors’ world tour. They played both ‘Dookie’ and ‘American Idiot’ in full, and included selections from their recent album ‘Saviors.’ The set also featured surprises such as an encore of ‘Minority’ and a new song titled ‘Fancy Sauce.’ Green Day’s stadium tour, commemorating the 30th and 20th anniversaries of ‘Dookie’ and ‘American Idiot,’ will kick off in June and feature support from bands like Nothing But Thieves and The Hives.
