Miami International Airport (MIA) hosted its second annual Guardians Appreciation Day lunch on Friday, May 17, 2024. The event, organized by the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) and the Miami Airline Management Council (AMC), brought together over 500 employees from various agencies who work diligently at MIA, including Miami-Dade Police, Miami-Dade Fire, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Leaders from MDAD and AMC treated frontline public safety and security employees from MIA to lunch across different shifts. This annual gathering took place just before Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in Miami-Dade County and coincided with Public Service Recognition Week, a time to honor federal, state, county, local, and tribal government workers.
