Junaid Khan’s ‘Maharaj’ Gets Green Light From Gujarat High Court, Set to Release on Netflix

The Gujarat High Court has lifted an interim stay on the release of Junaid Khan’s debut film ‘Maharaj’, paving the way for its release on Netflix. The court found that the film, based on an 1862 libel case involving a Vaishnavite religious leader, does not target or hurt the sentiments of any community. The decision comes after petitioners, who alleged the film was derogatory towards the Pushtimarg sect, had sought to block its release.

Gujarat High Court Questions State Government Over Rajkot Fire Incident Suspensions

The Gujarat High Court has expressed concerns over the suspension of only junior-level officers in connection with the Rajkot game zone fire incident, which claimed 27 lives. The court questioned why the state government had not suspended the city municipal commissioner and inquired about the lack of invocation of Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the case. The incident has also led to a plea for booking 13 additional officers, which the court has accepted and scheduled a hearing for June 20.
