Thunderstorms, Rainfall Forecast for India: Heatwave Conditions Expected in Several States

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several parts of India can expect thunderstorms, rainfall, gusty winds, and heatwave conditions in the coming days. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds till tomorrow, June 9. The northwestern states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan will also witness thunderstorms, light rainfall, and gusty winds today. Northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim can expect widespread light to moderate rainfall for the next seven days. Southern states including Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry are forecasted to receive light to moderate rainfall till June 12. Heatwave conditions are likely in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha on June 9. Severe heatwave conditions are also possible in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

Delhi to Experience Relief from Heatwave with Light Rain and Gusty Winds

After enduring an extended heatwave, residents of Delhi can expect a reprieve on Sunday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts light-intensity rain accompanied by gusty winds in the early hours. This relief will also extend to nearby areas in Haryana, including Gannaur, Sonipat, Rohtak, Kharkhoda, Charkhi Dadri, and Nuh, as well as Bagpat, Meerut, and Kithor in Uttar Pradesh. The IMD forecasts rainfall and gusts of 20-30 kilometers per hour over these regions for the next two hours, bringing relief to the populace.

IMD Forecasts Wet Spell, Thunderstorms, and Gusty Winds Over East and Central India Until May 16th

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a wet spell with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over East and Central India until May 14th and over South Peninsular India until May 16th. However, no significant concerns regarding heatwave are predicted during Phase 4 polling. Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is predicted over various regions, with isolated heavy rainfall expected in some areas. IMD has also issued an orange alert for hailstorm and gusty winds over isolated pockets of East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh.

IMD Predicts Relief from Scorching Heat in East India; Heavy Rains to Hit Northeast and Peninsular Regions

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has brought some respite to the eastern regions of the country suffering from an intense heat wave. The intensity has slightly decreased due to two Western Disturbances, leading to forecasted relief within the next two days. Meanwhile, the IMD predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds over Northeast India and a wet spell in East India until May 9, with peak intensity on May 6-7. South Peninsular India will also experience a wet spell with thunderstorms and gusty winds from May 5 to May 9, with the strongest impact expected on May 7-8.

Southern California Braces for Cool, Rainy Week

Southern California is in for a chilly and damp week, as a series of low-pressure systems brings below-normal temperatures and a chance of rain. The National Weather Service predicts cloudy skies, fog, and possible drizzle or light rain throughout the week. Los Angeles and other coastal areas will see highs in the mid-60s, while the San Fernando Valley and Inland Empire may experience rain on multiple days. Despite the wet weather, rainfall amounts are expected to be minimal, and no advisories have been issued. Gusty winds are possible later in the week, but skies are expected to clear and temperatures will return to normal by the weekend.
