Amidst the political crisis in Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has dismissed concerns about his government’s stability after three independent MLAs withdrew their support. Saini, in a swipe at Congress, which has claimed his government as a minority, asserted that the public would not allow Congress to fulfill its aspirations. While the BJP remains optimistic about retaining power, the CM took aim at Rahul Gandhi’s poverty eradication claims and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s achievements. He emphasized that the Congress party is weakening, as seen by its reduced presence in recent elections. In the 90-member Haryana Assembly, the BJP-led government is now two short of the majority mark, with 43 MLAs, as voting for the Lok Sabha polls is set to take place on May 25.
