Restigouche Region on Verge of Healthcare Daycare Pilot Project

Vitalite Health Network is preparing to issue a request for proposals within the next few weeks to secure a partner for operating a daycare for healthcare workers in the Restigouche region. The project aims to address the urgent need for childcare options, which has hindered the recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals in the area. The initiative is supported by local leaders and professional organizations, including the Restigouche Regional Service Commission, Campbellton Mayor Jean-Guy Levesque, the New Brunswick Nurses Union, and the New Brunswick Medical Society. The daycare is expected to operate seven days a week and at least 12 hours a day, potentially even 24 hours, to accommodate the demanding work schedules of healthcare workers. The project is seen as a potential solution to reduce the reliance on expensive travel nurses and enhance staff recruitment and retention. Vitalite Health Network emphasizes the need for community partnerships and funding support to ensure the success of the daycare initiative.
