Uttarakhand on Red Alert as Heavy Rains Pummel India, Char Dham Yatra Postponed

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rains in Uttarakhand, leading to the postponement of the Char Dham Yatra. Heavy rainfall is also expected in other parts of India, including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh. The IMD has forecasted widespread light to moderate rainfall across East and Northeast India until July 11, with heavy showers expected in Kerala until July 9.

Heavy Rainfall Expected Across India: IMD Forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of India, including Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Northwest India, and western peninsular India. The IMD also predicts heavy rainfall for the south Gujarat-Kerala coast due to a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.

AIIMS Neurosciences Centre Operations Disrupted by Heavy Rains in Delhi

Heavy rainfall in Delhi led to waterlogging at AIIMS, impacting operations at the Neurosciences Centre. All operation theatres were rendered non-functional due to air-conditioning issues and water seepage, forcing the referral of patients to other hospitals. While some emergency surgeries were performed, the situation highlights the infrastructure challenges posed by extreme weather events.

Mumbai Witnesses Heavy Rainfall as Monsoon Arrives

Mumbai experienced relief from scorching heat as the southwest monsoon made its way on Sunday. Tagore Nagar received the highest rainfall of 158.2 mm, causing waterlogging and traffic congestion. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra. Residents should be prepared for more rainfall and possible disruptions.
