A courageous mother, Grace Chidubem Ekohwo, and her three-week-old son, Gabriel, narrowly escaped a life-threatening flat fire in Aberdeen, Scotland. The blaze erupted suddenly, engulfing their building in thick black smoke. Despite the imminent danger, Grace quickly grabbed her son and sought refuge in the bathroom, placing a wet towel over his head for protection. In a desperate attempt to escape the suffocating smoke, she frantically tried to open windows, but only managed to open the one in the bedroom where she and Gabriel were trapped. Using her phone’s light as a signal, Grace alerted authorities outside her window. Firefighters and police arrived swiftly and deployed a ladder, allowing them to rescue baby Gabriel first and then Grace. Tragically, two sisters, Aanchal and Shikshya Subedi, lost their lives in the inferno.
