High School Baseball and Softball Highlights: St. Francis Stuns Serra, Westmont Rolls On

Tuesday’s high school baseball and softball action featured some surprising results, including St. Francis’ upset win over Serra. St. Francis senior Tysen Ellis had a double and triple, driving in three runs. Fellow senior Luke DeVine went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and sophomore Gino Cappellazzo scored twice. Chris Han pitched five solid innings, giving up just one run and striking out three. Benicia also had a dominant victory over Acalanes, while Stanford commit Quinten Marsh pitched another gem for Valley Christian. In softball, Gianna Crouch had five RBIs for Lincoln in a win over Piedmont Hills, and Alexis Kuka threw a two-hit complete game for Hillsdale against San Mateo.

Freshman Trinity Horn struck out six and walked one, leading Ramapo to a dominant 13-2 victory over Ridgefield Park. Horn’s impressive performance on the mound helped Ramapo secure their 9th win of the season. The offense exploded in the fifth inning, scoring eight runs and showcasing the team’s hitting prowess.

West Deptford Softball Dominates Woodstown Behind Kwashek’s Stellar Performance

Isabella Kwashek led West Deptford to a resounding 12-1 victory over Woodstown, showcasing her exceptional skills both on the mound and at the plate. Kwashek struck out 13 batters in a dominant four-hitter while also contributing an impressive 4-for-5 performance at bat, including a towering home run. Her contributions propelled the Eagles to an impressive 8-3 record, while Woodstown fell to 7-4.

New Egypt Triumphs in High-Scoring Softball Battle

Megan Miller’s impressive performance, collecting three hits and driving in five runs, propelled New Egypt to a 12-11 victory over Holy Cross Prep in Plumsted. New Egypt unleashed a barrage of 18 hits, with Katelyn Thomas contributing three, including a double and three RBIs. Sara Scozzari and Keira Simicsak each notched three hits, and Scozzari’s swiftness on the base paths earned her three stolen bases.

Robbinsville’s Lexi Lopez Shuts Out Hopewell Valley 10-0

Led by Lexi Lopez’s dominant pitching performance, Robbinsville, ranked 16th in NJ.com’s Top 20, defeated Hopewell Valley 10-0 in a decisive victory. Lopez pitched a five-inning two-hitter, striking out five batters and allowing no walks. Robbinsville, now with a record of 8-1, extended its shutout streak to six consecutive games and an overall total of seven shutouts this season. Caroline Walls and Sorella Gallucci each had exceptional offensive performances, with Walls going 3-for-3 with three RBI and Gallucci contributing a 3-for-3 performance with two RBI and a double.

Hunterdon Central Softball Rallies for 5-2 Victory over Immaculata

Hunterdon Central’s softball team overcame an early 2-0 deficit to defeat Immaculata 5-2 on Tuesday. Cassandra Stallwood, Kaitlyn Kozak, and Grace Griesler each contributed with two hits and an RBI, while Emily Van Cleef pitched a strong three innings, allowing only one hit and striking out five batters. Immaculata’s Caroline Colitti had two hits and two RBIs, but Hunterdon Central’s resilience proved too much for the Spartans. This win marks revenge for Hunterdon Central after losing 2-1 to Immaculata on opening day.
