Banks Defends NYC Schools Amid Antisemitism Concerns

New York City Public Schools Chancellor David Banks faced questions from Congress about antisemitism in the city’s schools, including a pro-Hamas teacher and a principal who remained on the payroll after an antisemitic riot. Banks defended the school system’s response, stating that several staff members and school leaders have been removed or disciplined, at least 30 students have been suspended, and all 1,600 principals have been retrained on the discipline code.
