Himachal Pradesh to Host ‘Dehra Utsav’ to Boost Tourism and Showcase Cultural Heritage

Himachal Pradesh is set to host a grand cultural festival, ‘Dehra Utsav,’ aimed at showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage and attracting tourists. The festival, announced by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, will take place by the end of 2024. In addition to the festival, Sukhu also visited the Dehra Assembly Constituency to review development projects and engage with local students.

Himachal Pradesh is set to experience a tourism boom with the launch of 11 new projects, totaling INR 696.47 crore, designed to enhance the state’s travel infrastructure. These projects, announced by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, encompass key areas like convention centers, beautification initiatives, wellness centers, and recreational facilities. Additionally, plans are underway to transform Pong Dam into a birdwatcher’s paradise and expand Kangra airport to attract high-end tourists.

Flash floods and landslides have wreaked havoc across Himachal Pradesh, resulting in deaths, infrastructure damage, and widespread disruption. Una district has been severely impacted, with water entering homes and inundating roads. The state’s emergency operation center reports road closures, including five national highways, affecting connectivity. The Lahaul-Spiti police have issued an advisory warning residents and travelers to stay away from low-lying areas due to the risk of flash floods.
