Grindr Sued for Sharing Users’ Personal Information Without Consent

Grindr is facing a lawsuit in London for allegedly sharing users’ personal information with advertising companies without their consent. The data is said to have included HIV statuses and test dates, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. This is not the first time Grindr has been accused of sharing users’ personal information. In 2022, a report from The Wall Street Journal indicated that precise location data on Grindr users was up for sale. In 2021, Norway’s data protection agency fined Grindr $6 million for violating the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation.
