Cyclone Dana Intensifies: IMD Issues Severe Weather Warning for West Bengal and Odisha

Cyclone Dana has escalated into a Severe Cyclonic Storm and is approaching the coasts of West Bengal and Odisha. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning, predicting strong winds and extremely heavy rainfall in the affected regions, including Puri, Cuttack, Hooghly, and Kolkata. The cyclone is expected to make landfall between Puri and Sagar Island during the night of October 24th and the early hours of October 25th, bringing wind speeds of up to 120 km/h. Residents in the affected areas are advised to take precautions and stay informed about the latest developments.

Heavy Rainfall Expected Across India as Cyclonic Circulation Forms over Andaman Sea

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for several states across India, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The warning comes as a cyclonic circulation forms over the Andaman Sea, potentially developing into a low-pressure area and then a depression in the coming days. While the IMD is still assessing the potential impact of the system, coastal areas of North Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Bangladesh are likely to be affected. The IMD has also issued advisories for fishermen and advised them to return to shore by October 21.
