Mumbai Bathed in Heavy Rains as IMD Issues Yellow Alert

Mumbai experienced heavy rainfall on Tuesday, prompting the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert for the city. The downpours are expected to continue throughout the day, with wind speeds reaching up to 45-55 mph. Other parts of Maharashtra, including Thane, Nandurbarh, and Nasik, are also under a yellow alert.

Heavy Rains and Red Alerts Issued Across India: IMD Warns of Extreme Precipitation

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alerts for extremely heavy rainfall in Telangana, Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra on July 20th. Orange alerts have also been issued for several other states, including Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha. The IMD has attributed the heavy rainfall to a low-pressure depression that is expected to cross the Odisha coast near Puri. Fisherman warnings are also in place due to rough sea conditions in the Bay of Bengal. Heavy rains have already led to flooding in Telangana, resulting in the rescue of 40 people stranded in agricultural fields.

Red Alert Issued as Monsoon Brings Heavy Rainfall to India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for parts of India due to heavy monsoon rainfall. The monsoon trough is positioned south of its normal position, leading to extremely heavy rainfall in Konkan & Goa, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, and Kerala & Mahe. The heavy rains have already impacted Mumbai, Goa, and Karnataka, with Mumbai recording over 141 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours. While the south peninsula has received above-normal precipitation, central India remains below normal. The IMD forecasts continued heavy rainfall in various parts of India, including Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, and East Uttar Pradesh, over the next few days.

Delhi-NCR Braces for Light Rain and Thunderstorms, IMD Predicts Wet Spell

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Delhi-NCR over the next few hours. The department also predicts generally cloudy skies with light rain on Sunday, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to be around 35 and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively. The IMD forecasts wet spells throughout the coming week until July 20, although no heavy rainfall alert is currently in place.
