Secret Service Petition Raises Concerns, But Agency Defends Staff

A petition circulating within the Secret Service has raised concerns about recent incidents linked to “inadequate training” and other issues, but the agency has downplayed the report. The petition, which has at least 39 signatures, calls for a congressional investigation into the Secret Service, flagging concerns about double standards in disciplinary actions and a vulnerability to potential insider threats. However, Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi has stated that anonymous petitioner does not embody the agency’s values and that their staff is comprised of talented professionals who are dedicated to protecting the presidency and the U.S. financial system.
