Argentina has requested the arrest of Iran’s Interior Minister, Ahmad Vahidi, over the 1994 bombing of a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires that killed 85 people. The request was made to Pakistan and Sri Lanka, where Vahidi is currently part of a delegation led by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. Argentina has accused Vahidi, a former member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps, of being a key mastermind behind the attack. Interpol has issued a red notice for Vahidi’s arrest at Argentina’s request since 2007, which was renewed in 2022.
