Solar System’s ‘Local Hot Bubble’ Mapped in 3D, Reveals Interstellar Tunnels

Using data from the eROSITA All-Sky Survey, astronomers have created a detailed 3D map of the Local Hot Bubble (LHB), a low-density bubble of X-ray-emitting gas surrounding our solar system. This map reveals a temperature gradient within the LHB, suggesting it was reheated by supernova explosions, and reveals an interstellar tunnel towards the constellation Centaurus, possibly linking our bubble to a neighboring superbubble.
