Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jakob Junis was rushed to the hospital after being struck in the neck with a ball during batting practice in a freak accident Monday. Junis was “conscious, alert and responsive. He was sent to the hospital for further evaluation,” according to a tweet from the team. The incident is exceedingly rare, as pitchers rarely throw live batting practice to their team’s hitters during the season. Junis, who was already on the injured list with a shoulder injury, is coming off the best season of his career statistically.
