Veteran pitcher Johnny Cueto has signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers, reuniting with former manager Bruce Bochy. The 38-year-old right-hander is expected to provide depth to a Rangers rotation that has been hit by injuries this season. Cueto, a four-time All-Star, has a 144-111 record with a 3.50 ERA in his career, including a World Series victory with the Kansas City Royals in 2015. The Rangers currently have five starters over the age of 29, so Cueto’s experience and postseason success could be valuable if he can make it to the major leagues.
