The abolition of the two-hour Jumma break in the Assam Assembly has sparked controversy, with AIMIM leader Waris Pathan accusing the BJP government of being anti-Muslim. Pathan condemned the move, calling it unconstitutional and a violation of religious freedom. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, however, defended the decision, stating it was a unanimous agreement among all MLAs to work during the previous break time.
