Karachi’s Mayor Murtaza Wahab has initiated a weekly anti-encroachment operation to combat traffic congestion and restore order in the city. The operation will target key areas like Saddar, Lighthouse, MA Jinnah Road, and Empress Market, focusing on removing illegal cabins, stalls, and carts encroaching on public roads.
The Karachi Traffic Police has extended road closures until 7pm due to security measures for Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi’s visit. The closures include Sharea Faisal, MA Jinnah Road, and Sharea Quaideen. Mobile phone services have also been disrupted in some areas. Police have deployed units at various sites, and citizens are advised to use alternative routes.
