Greene, Maeda Lead Tigers to 4-2 Win over Rays

Riley Greene’s two home runs and Kenta Maeda’s five scoreless innings paved the way for the Detroit Tigers’ 4-2 victory against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night. Maeda, who needed a strong outing, limited mistakes and struck out five in his five-inning appearance. After Greene’s solo homer in the third, Isaac Paredes gave the Rays the lead in the sixth, but Greene struck back with a two-run homer in the eighth. Mark Canha added an insurance run with a solo blast. Greene now has five home runs and an MLB-best 21 base on balls this season. The Tigers will go for a three-game sweep of the Rays in the series finale on Wednesday.

Tigers Aim for Series Sweep, Maeda to Take Mound

After a resounding 7-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday, the Detroit Tigers will look to continue their winning ways on Tuesday with Kenta Maeda on the mound. Maeda will have a tough act to follow after Tarik Skubal’s dominant start in the series opener, where he struck out nine and allowed only three singles in six scoreless innings. Mark Canha and Parker Meadows homered for the Tigers, who registered 11 hits and went 4-for-13 with runners in scoring position. For the Rays, their offensive struggles continued as they struck out 12 times and managed only two hits. Ryan Pepiot will start for the Rays, who have lost three of their last four games.
