The Congress-led UDF faces a close contest in four south Kerala constituencies, including Thiruvananthapuram, Attingal, Pathanamthitta, and Kollam. The UDF aims to retain its dominance while countering LDF and BJP surges. The LDF-NDA campaigns are less burdened by incumbency, and the election has taken on a cultural war dimension between secular-liberal forces and Hindu nationalist views.
The Congress party in Kerala is aiming to use the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections as a springboard to the 2026 assembly elections. The party is urging voters to support them in all 20 parliamentary constituencies while also campaigning for the 2026 assembly elections. The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) won 19 out of 20 seats in the 2019 parliamentary election and is aiming to repeat that success in 2024, with the hope of winning the 2026 assembly elections.
