To accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Indian Railways is operating nearly 304 special trains across various routes. This includes 56 special trains by Western Central Railway and seven special trains by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) to cater to the influx of travelers returning to their hometowns in Konkan from Mumbai.
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will operate nearly 5,000 extra special buses for the Ganpati festival, catering to the influx of travelers from Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar districts to the Konkan region.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, warning of heavy to very heavy rain in isolated areas. The alert extends to several districts in Maharashtra’s Konkan region, including Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg.
