The highly anticipated Korean comedy action film, “The Roundup: Punishment,” made a spectacular debut at local theaters, raking in an impressive $4.92 million from 821,000 ticket sales on its opening Wednesday. This staggering figure represents an overwhelming 97% share of the day’s theatrical market. Including a few previews over the preceding weekend, the film’s cumulative earnings at the end of Wednesday reached an astonishing $5.26 million, amassed from an equally impressive 862,000 spectators. “The Roundup: Punishment” set a new record for advanced ticket sales in South Korea even before its official release, surpassing previous record-holders such as “Along With the Gods: The Last 49 Days” (2018) and “The Roundup: No Way Out” (2023).
