Encounter in Pulwama, Arms Cache Recovered in Kupwara

On Monday, an encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired on the forces, who retaliated. The exchange of fire is ongoing with no casualties reported yet. Meanwhile, a joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police in Kupwara resulted in the recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition, and war-like stores. Additionally, three Indian Army lieutenant colonels and 13 others have been named in a case related to the violent attack on the Kupwara police station on May 30. In a separate incident, the Indian Army eliminated three terrorists in ‘Operation Redwani Payeen’ in Kulgam on May 6.

Flood-hit Kupwara: Rescue Operations Underway Amidst Snowfall

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched rescue operations in flood-affected areas of Kupwara district, where heavy rain has caused a flood-like situation. Fresh snowfall has been reported in Bandipora district and the Machil sector of Kupwara. The incessant rain has also led to flooding in some areas of Handwara, prompting the Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Management Authority to declare a school holiday in Kupwara. The India Meteorological Department forecasts continued rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, along with widespread snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
