La Porte Woman Charged with Arson and Murder After Deadly House Fire

A La Porte woman has been charged with arson and murder after a house fire killed one person. The victim, 72-year-old Connie Fortune, was temporarily living with the suspect, 34-year-old Sarah Flores. According to police, Flores confessed to lighting the fire. Fortune’s family and friends said tension had been building between the two women, and that Fortune wanted Flores to move out. Flores is due back in court Wednesday.

Water Main Break in West La Porte Causes Outage

A water main break in west La Porte on Monday evening has caused an outage for residents. A contractor struck the water main near Cottonwood and Pecan Drive, causing the outage. The La Porte Office of Emergency Management (OEM) expects repairs to take about two hours to complete. As of 8:24 p.m., no update on the repairs had been provided.
