Pennsylvania 2024 Primary Election Concludes Smoothly; Key Races Highlight Lehigh Valley Ballots

Polls closed Tuesday night in Pennsylvania’s 2024 primary election, concluding a day of voting that featured high-profile races for both Democrats and Republicans in the Lehigh Valley. Leading up to the election, Northampton County officials emphasized efforts to ensure a smooth process following a voting machine malfunction in November. Lehigh Valley Republicans selected their challenger to face U.S. Rep. Susan Wild in the 7th Congressional District, while Pennsylvania state Rep. Robert Freeman faced a primary challenge from Easton City Councilwoman Taiba Sultana. The statewide primary also cemented the lineup for the U.S. Senate race between Democratic Sen. Bob Casey and Republican challenger David McCormick, which is expected to be highly competitive.

Nominate Athletes for Lehigh Valley Athlete of the Week

The Morning Call sports staff is seeking nominations for outstanding male and female high school athletes from the Lehigh Valley area. Each week, three male and three female athletes will be nominated based on their performance or accomplishments. The public can vote for one boy and one girl to be named Athlete of the Week. Voting runs from 5 p.m. ET on Mondays to 9 a.m. ET on Thursdays.
