Twelve more people have died due to lightning strikes in Bihar, bringing the total number of fatalities from lightning in the past 10 days to over 40. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed condolences and announced an ex-gratia of ₹4 lakh each to the families of the deceased. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in Bihar from July 9 to 11, with heavy showers also expected in other parts of Northeast India.
