Lithium Americas Corp. (LAC) shares surged over 19% after the company announced a major investment deal with General Motors (GM) to establish a joint venture for developing the Thacker Pass lithium project in Nevada. This strategic partnership marks a significant step toward securing a domestic supply chain for critical minerals in the U.S., with GM providing $625 million in cash and letters of credit, in addition to a $2.3 billion loan commitment from the Department of Energy.
