Lok Sabha Elections: Congress Urges Voters Not to Support Its Candidate in Banswara-Dungarpur

In a bizarre turn of events, the Congress party is urging voters in the Banswara-Dungarpur Lok Sabha constituency in Rajasthan not to support its official candidate, Arvind Damor. Instead, Congress has thrown its weight behind Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) candidate Rajkumar Roat. The reason behind this unusual move stems from internal conflicts and a lack of cooperation between the state and central units of Congress. Despite initially fielding Damor as its candidate, the party decided to support Roat at the eleventh hour. However, Damor has refused to withdraw his nomination, leading to a three-way contest that could benefit the BJP candidate, Mahendrajit Singh Malviya.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Faces Anti-Incumbency Wave in Murshidabad’s Baharampur

Baharampur Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, a traditional Congress bastion, is witnessing a tough battle between incumbent MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Trinamool Congress candidate Yusuf Pathan, and BJP’s Nirmal Chandra Saha. Unemployment and workforce migration remain major issues in the constituency, leading to anti-incumbency sentiments against Chowdhury, who has held the seat for five consecutive terms since 1999. The TMC’s fielding of Pathan, a former India all-rounder, has injected excitement into the race, while the BJP hopes to make inroads into the region by banking on Saha’s popularity. Despite his declining vote share, Chowdhury remains a formidable force, and the ‘insider-outsider’ narrative is likely to influence voters’ decisions.
