Authorities have apprehended a man, Vino, for carrying Rs 14 lakh concealed within his clothing, violating the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha Elections. The incident occurred at the Walayar check post on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. Officials became suspicious of Vino’s bulky attire and frisked him, uncovering bundles of cash hidden in his shirt’s lining. As per the Code, an individual may carry up to Rs 50,000; higher amounts require documentation. The seized funds have been reported to the Income Tax department, and investigations are ongoing. This incident highlights the intensified security measures in place ahead of the Kerala Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 26th.

SAD Releases Second Candidate List, Harsimrat Badal to Contest from Bathinda

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has announced the names of six more candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, including Harsimrat Kaur Badal. Harsimrat, the wife of SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, will contest from the Bathinda constituency, which has been a stronghold of the Badals. Other candidates announced by the SAD include Mohinder Singh Kaypee from Jalandhar, Sohan Singh Thandal from Hoshiarpur, Nardev Singh Bobby Mann from Ferozepur, Ranjit Singh Dhillon from Ludhiana, and Hardeep Singh Saini Buttrela from Chandigarh. With this, the SAD has now announced candidates for 12 parliamentary constituencies in Punjab.

BJP Workers in Tripura Offered Rs 2 Lakh for Highest Voting Percentage

Tripura Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath has announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for BJP workers in the Khowai Assembly segment if their booth records the highest percentage of voting. The Khowai Assembly segment falls under the East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency, which will go to the polls on April 26. Nath said he would personally reward the booth committee that secures the highest voter turnout. He also claimed that the Opposition INDIA Bloc candidate may lose his security deposit in the East Tripura constituency and accused the Opposition of failing to deploy polling agents in the West Tripura constituency on April 19.

Eshwarappa had been denied a ticket for his son in the Haveri Seat, and has since sought retribution by contesting against BJP candidate Raghavendra, the son of former CM BS Yediyurappa.
