LA 2028 Olympics Announces Venue Changes for Cost Savings and Revenue Increases

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics has announced changes to its venue plan, resulting in an estimated $156 million in combined savings and revenue increases. The changes include moving swimming to SoFi Stadium, basketball to Intuit Dome, and gymnastics to Crypto.com Arena. Softball and canoe slalom events will be held in Oklahoma City, while equestrian and shooting competitions will be moved to locations outside of Los Angeles. These changes aim to leverage existing venues and minimize the need for temporary structures, aligning with the International Olympic Committee’s emphasis on sustainability.
