Lou Esposito, the newly appointed defensive line coach for the Michigan Wolverines, has signed a two-year contract worth over $1.7 million, according to MLive. The former Memphis coach will receive a base salary of $500,000 annually, supplemented by a substantial $786,000 signing bonus and a $25,000 relocation stipend. Esposito’s addition to Michigan’s coaching staff fills the void left by Greg Scruggs, who resigned following an arrest for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Esposito brings a wealth of experience to Ann Arbor, having previously served as defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Western Michigan, Davenport University, and Ferris State. As a player, Esposito was an offensive lineman for Memphis from 1997 to 2000.
