Maratha Quota Activist Manoj Jarange Patil Ends Hunger Strike

Manoj Jarange Patil, a prominent activist demanding reservation for the Maratha community in Maharashtra, ended his nine-day hunger strike on Wednesday. He called off the protest citing the sentiments of the community, but vowed to fight for their inclusion under the OBC category. This comes after the Maharashtra legislature passed a bill providing 10% reservation for Marathas under a separate category.

Maratha Quota Agitation to Resume on June 4th, Rally Planned for June 8th

Activist Manoj Jarange has announced that the Maratha quota agitation will resume on June 4th, coinciding with the announcement of the Lok Sabha election results. The agitation will include an indefinite hunger strike and a rally on June 8th in Beed district. Jarange expressed dissatisfaction with the 10% reservation granted to economically backward categories, claiming it has proven ineffective in police recruitment. He urged the government to address their demands before the resumption of protests.
