The lawsuit claims that Mayor Henyard has a policy of approving or denying permits based on campaign contributions, rather than on objective criteria. The plaintiff, Tyrone Isom Jr., says he was forced to sell his property after investing thousands of dollars in renovations due to the mayor’s refusal to issue a business license. The lawsuit also alleges that Isom was denied due process under the U.S. Constitution and names several other village officials as defendants.
