McDowell’s, a popular mass market brand, has recently ventured into the Indian single malt whisky segment with the launch of Distiller’s Batch Indian Single Malt. This triple cask expression is crafted at United Spirits’ Nashik distillery and aged in ex-bourbon, virgin oak, ex-cabarnet sauvignon, and Shiraz casks sourced from vineyards in Nashik. With a limited release of only 6,000 bottles and a price point of ₹ 3,500, the whisky aims to compete with established premium single malts like Indri and Paul John Nirvana. The launch marks a significant step in Diageo’s strategy to premiumize the McDowell’s brand, which holds a strong legacy in India.
