Mumbai’s Western Line Faces Major Disruptions for 35 Days due to Sixth Line Extension

Commuters on Mumbai’s Western Line will face significant disruptions due to a 35-day mega block for the extension of the sixth line between Goregaon and Kandivali. The construction, scheduled to begin around August 27-28, will result in the cancellation of up to 700 train services over five weekends. While efforts have been made to minimize inconvenience, the impact on commuters will be substantial.

Mega Block on Central Railway: 930 Local Trains Canceled, Long-Distance Services Impacted

Central Railway will implement a massive 63-hour mega block from May 30 midnight for platform extension and widening projects at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Thane station. As a result, 930 local train services will be canceled, affecting travel plans for commuters. Long-distance trains will also be impacted, with several being short-terminated or short-originated. The railway authorities have appealed to commuters to avoid traveling by local trains during this period. Extra buses will be operated by BEST and MSRTC to assist passengers with alternative transportation options.
