Inaugural Northern Music Awards Celebrate the North’s Musical Luminaries

The inaugural Northern Music Awards recognized the extraordinary talent emanating from the North of England. Held in Manchester, the event raised funds for the establishment of a Nordoff and Robbins music therapy center in the North-West. Spice Girl Mel C and former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson emerged as the award winners, while artists like Liam Fray, English Teacher, and The K’s graced the stage with captivating performances.

Beyond the star-studded ceremony, the awards aimed to highlight the region’s vibrant music scene and support emerging artists. The event also celebrated the achievements of established icons such as Lisa Stansfield and The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess. The funds raised will support the opening of a new Nordoff and Robbins music therapy center in Salford, Greater Manchester, providing accessible and transformative music therapy services to the community.

Northern Music Awards Celebrate Musical Talent Across England

The inaugural Northern Music Awards, held at the Albert Hall in Manchester, recognized the established and rising musical talent across the north of England. Melanie Chisholm, known as Mel C from the Spice Girls, received the special recognition award, while Louis Tomlinson, formerly of One Direction, won artist of the year. Other winners included The Courteeners’ Liam Fray for band of the year, Aitch for music moment of the year, The Reytons for disruptor in music, The K’s for breakthrough act of the year, Lisa Stansfield for Northern icon, and Tim Burgess of The Charlatans for the headline Northern Music Award 2024. The ceremony also featured guest presenters from the region, including Thomas Turgoose, Gary Neville, Gillian Gilbert, and Stephen Morris. Funds raised from the event will support the opening of a new Nordoff and Robbins music therapy center in Salford, Greater Manchester.
