Despite societal power and privilege, men often experience disproportionate mental health challenges and are less likely to seek help. Constrictive social norms and views of masculinity limit their emotional vulnerability, creating a vicious cycle of loneliness and undermining well-being. Mindfulness training, while beneficial for women, has shown less impact for men. Men’s groups provide a safe space to challenge these norms and develop adaptive coping mechanisms. Research has identified three stages in which men reshape their attitudes towards masculinity: recognition of discontent, reconstruction of views, and enactment of positive behavior.
