Fiona Tuomey, the mother of 11-year-old Milly who died by suicide in 2016, spoke in court about the inadequate mental health services that her daughter faced in the weeks leading up to her death. Despite seeking help, Milly was given an appointment for therapy a day after she passed away. The family settled for €65,000 in a High Court action against the HSE and other healthcare providers, highlighting systemic errors in Milly’s care. Ms. Tuomey called for changes in the mental health system to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
