Apple iPhone 16 Orders Cut by 10 Million Units: Analyst Warns of Potential Revenue Pressure

Apple Inc. (AAPL) shares took a hit Wednesday afternoon after analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported a significant cut in iPhone 16 orders. Kuo predicts that production for the non-Pro models will be impacted, leading to a potential revenue decline in the coming quarters. The news comes amidst Apple’s push into AI with Apple Intelligence, but Kuo believes hardware innovation is needed to fully capitalize on this technology.

iPhone 16 Design Renders: Rumors of New and Discontinued Colors

Apple may introduce new color options for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro series, potentially discontinuing others. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max could be available in black, white (or silver), and gray, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro series. However, Apple might replace the blue titanium option with a rose hue. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are rumored to come in black, green, pink, blue, and white, potentially replacing yellow. Apple’s use of rose gold has been limited in recent years, with Starlight being the closest to white for the regular iPhone series. Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to feature larger displays and potentially include Action and Capture buttons.

Apple Vision Pro Production Cut Amid Lower Demand

Apple has reportedly cut production of its $3,500 Vision Pro mixed-reality headset due to lower than expected demand. The company had initially predicted shipments to reach 700,000–800,000 units, but recent estimates have lowered that figure to 400,000-450,000 units. This suggests weak demand in the U.S., where shipments have been cut ahead of the Vision Pro’s launch in non-U.S. markets. Apple is currently reviewing its roadmap for the device and may no longer release a new, cheaper model in 2025.

Apple Revises Vision Pro Headset Shipment Forecast Amidst Declining Demand

Apple has reportedly scaled back its shipment estimates for the Vision Pro headset due to a drop in demand. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests the tech giant has slashed orders even prior to the global launch, with revised sales projections of 400,000 to 450,000 units in 2024, a substantial reduction from earlier estimates of 700,000 to 800,000 units. The $3,500 Vision Pro has seen its demand fall below expectations, prompting Apple to reevaluate its shipment forecast.
