The Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh has passed a bill to prevent disqualified MLAs from receiving pensions. The Maharashtra Congress has expelled two of its MLAs, Zeeshan Siddique and Jitesh Antapurkar, just ahead of the state’s assembly elections. The move comes after seven Congress MLAs were revealed to have cross-voted in recent Legislative Council elections. While the party chief didn’t disclose specific reasons, the expulsions are seen as a move to strengthen the party’s position ahead of the crucial polls.
