Larian Studios has announced that official mod support for Baldur’s Gate 3 will finally be released in September with Patch 7. The developer is releasing the toolkit early to beta test it with popular modders this month and will hold a bigger closed beta for 1,000 players in July. Modders will be able to create new weapons, armor, classes, subclasses, spells, and dice skins for the game using Mod.io as the platform for the toolkit. While cross-platform support will not be available for mods that edit levels, cinematics, dialogue, or quests, Larian will continue to allow mods not made with the official toolkit and mods that break these rules to be published on other modding platforms. Official mod support will be enabled for Windows players first via Patch 7 in September before coming to Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox.
