Kerala Issues Red Alert as Heavy Rains Lash the State

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kozhikode districts in Kerala due to incessant rainfall that has triggered landslides, uprooted trees, and caused waterlogging. The districts are expected to receive extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 204.4mm within 24 hours. An orange alert has also been issued for Idukki and Wayanad, indicating the likelihood of heavy rainfall (64.5mm-204.5mm) from June 1 to June 2. The IMD predicts that isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall will persist over south Peninsular India for the next 4-5 days.
