Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has completed extensive runway repair and maintenance ahead of the monsoon season. The work was carried out on both runways to enhance operational efficiency and passenger convenience during the heavy rainfall. CSMIA, recognized as the world’s busiest single runway airport, handles over 950 air traffic movements daily. The maintenance included identifying and examining areas prone to waterlogging, checking runway surfaces for cracks, and servicing nearly 5,000 aeronautical ground lights. CSMIA also developed a Monsoon contingency plan with various stakeholders to manage weather disruptions and ensure continuous operation. The airport remains committed to providing a seamless and safe travel experience for all passengers and airlines operating from Mumbai.
