A pedestrian was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident that occurred in San Martin on Tuesday morning. Authorities reported that the fatal collision took place around 5:20 a.m. on Monterey Road near Roosevelt Avenue under dark and cloudy conditions. The pedestrian, a 56-year-old Gilroy man, was attempting to cross Monterey Road from east to west when he was struck by a southbound 1998 Ford Windstar traveling at approximately 50 mph. The driver responsible for the collision fled the scene. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been contributing factors in the incident.
